Caitríona has done some amazing things in Outlander for the last six years, but she’s also really popping in films, like Ford v Ferrari. They both have great acting chops, but they had that kind of pizzazz, that sort of excitment that the that the nine-year-old saw in his parents, they bring it to the film.

I mea, she’s always looking out for me and always checking if I’m okay. And I feel like she’s really bringing the heart, and warmth, and kindness to Mollie Miles. And the mother sense of her, and I feel you know it’s really made her sweet and lovely.

I think what Caitríona so beautifully captures is both someone who’s living with the parameters of what it is to be a wife in the early 1960s, but is also pushing against them. And is making demands on her husband, and even getting involved in their future in a way that is pushing at the edges of like, ‘I don’t want to find out about this shit later. You need to talk to me. You need to talk to me about our finances. You need to talk to me about your decisions.’ And it’s also a fan routing and also praying that he comes back.

What I know for sure is that I wouldn’t have any nominations, for sure, without the incredible work of Jamie Dornan, Caitriona Balfe and Jude Hill. It sounds cliched, but I mean it when I say these nominations absolutely belong to them.
